In 1953, The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created. The law said the federal government “should aid, counsel, assist and project the interests of small business.”   In 1964, SCORE was officially launched as a national volunteer group with 2,000 members, uniting independent efforts into a national force.   SCORE is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. We provide a public service to America by offering small business advice and training. The main SCORE Administration is headquartered in Washington, D.C.   Today SCORE has over 11,000 volunteers with more than 600 business skills. Volunteers are here to share their wisdom and lessons learned in business. SCORE volunteers are working and/or retired business owners, executives and corporate leaders.   There are 389 chapters nationwide, including one here in Augusta, GA. What can SCORE do for your small business? SCORE volunteers are successful businessmen who have retired and want to help you with your small business. They can help with creating business plans, deal with business set up, home based business, etc.   Speaker's Bureau SCORE Augusta maintains a Speakers' Bureau for presentations to groups interested in learning about the business services provided by the chapter.
